Password Generator
Generate strong random passwords in your browser, with full control over length and character types.
Passwords are generated in your browser using its built-in secure random number generator. They are never sent to a server, logged, or saved — closing this page discards them.
How to use it
Set a length, choose which character types to include, then generate. Longer passwords with more character types are harder to guess — 16 characters or more is a reasonable default for accounts that matter, and a password manager makes length essentially free since you never type it by hand.
Generating several at once
Set “How many” above 1 to produce a batch — useful when setting up multiple accounts or devices in one sitting.
Frequently asked questions
- Are the generated passwords sent anywhere?
- No. Generation happens entirely in your browser, and the passwords are not transmitted, logged, or stored. Reloading or closing the page discards them.
- How random are these passwords?
- They use your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (the Web Crypto API), not the ordinary Math.random function. Character selection also avoids modulo bias, so every character in the pool is equally likely.
- What does the strength rating mean?
- It's a simple guide based on length and how many character types are used. It describes the shape of the password — it isn't a prediction of how long any particular attacker would take to crack it.
- Why would I exclude look-alike characters?
- Characters like capital I, lowercase l, and the digit 1 are hard to tell apart in many fonts. Excluding them helps if you'll be reading the password aloud or typing it from a printout.
