Your input is parsed with the browser's own JSON parser and then written back out — indented with two spaces when you format, or on a single line when you minify. Because it is a parse-then-rewrite, the data itself is unchanged: the same keys and values come out, only the whitespace differs. JSON is data, not code, so nothing in it is ever executed.
Validation comes free with parsing. If the text will not parse, the parser's own message is shown — usually naming the position where it gave up, which is a quick way to find a trailing comma, a single quote, or an unclosed bracket.
