How it works
Temperature scales do not share a common zero point, so they cannot be converted by a single multiplier the way lengths or weights can. Each value is converted to Celsius first, then out to the scale you asked for.
Formulas
- °F = °C × 9/5 + 32
- °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9
- K = °C + 273.15
Kelvin has no negative values, so a conversion that would fall below absolute zero (−273.15°C) is rejected rather than returned as a meaningless number.
